Nino Ortiz is an Asian American photographer and visual artist whose work explores identity, belonging, and representation through self-portraiture, mixed media, and collage. Drawing on his own lived experience, Nino brings an intimate insider perspective to questions of community and cultural visibility - themes that run through both his personal practice and his documentary work.

Rooted in the Pacific Northwest, Nino has built a dual practice that bridges art and community storytelling - a direction shaped by his training in both commercial and studio disciplines. His AAS in Commercial Photography from Mt. Hood Community College grounded him in the technical and visual language of documentary work, while his BS in Art and Design at Portland State University has expanded his practice into conceptual and mixed media territory. Together, these form the foundation for his embedded photo and video work within diverse school communities across the Portland and Gresham area, where his Asian American background informs a nuanced, humanizing approach to representation.

Nino is currently developing new bodies of work that deepen his investigation into belonging and self-representation, positioning him for post-graduation opportunities in both gallery and documentary contexts.
